This was a very well-organized, environmentally-conscious operation. We were instructed not to swim toward, kick in the water or attempt to touch the dolphins. They also made sure that we applied sunscreen before boarding the boats to minimize the wash off that can damage the reefs. Great opportunity to float in the water and have dolphins swim by you. The... More

It was spectacular to swim with dolphins & watch their joy & grace from the boat too. Also wonderful to see John's love & respect for them.

We had the boat just for us, so we've got a lot of time to find quiet places with the Dolphins. We've seen lots of those beautiful creatures. John knows how it works. Thanks a lot for a great day!!! 🐬🐬🐬

John brings a kind spirit to the experience and takes it seriously. I appreciate his respect for the dolphins. He has a seasoned intuition and the perfect sized boat to maneuver into the right positions. I was fortunate to have swam above a circling pod and was there when they surfaced a half dozen times. Words cannot explain the wonder... More

John is an authentic being whose professionalism, knowledge, experience and wisdom of the water and it's creatures is evident in how he conducts his outings/excursions. Our trip to sea with John was a highlight of our Big Island adventures. The dolphin encounters were magnificent, I like that we stayed far from the throngs of other operators. Our connection with the... More

I’ve been out with John four times over the last few years. I’ve never been disappointed on any of those adventures. Dropping into the water and being surrounded by dolphins and hearing them is truly an amazing experience. I don’t know how John keeps an eye on all his snorkelers at once, but he never fails. When one group of... More

We had a HUGE blast going out with John on his boat! Our family met him in the appointed place and before we knew it we were off on our adventure. We were surrounded by dolphins right from the start! We found two different pods, both were quite large. Observing dolphins in the open ocean was an astounding experience! There... More

I was thrilled that John Float of Dolphin Essence had room on his boat to take me snorkeling with the wild spinner dolphins this week. I first chose his swim when I was here four years ago because he advertised no more than 6 passengers at a time. It made a huge difference then because when the dolphins went to... More

I'm so thrilled to have located Capt John Float and feel very enlightened after our journey with him. He is clearly in possession of a sixth sense and is at one with the ocean and its inhabitants. We had so many dolphins swimming around us it was difficult to grasp the full scope of such an intimate experience. We saw... More
