Center of Town

This is where most of the activities on the water come out of. The bay itself has a lot going on with swimmers, boarders, and tour boats. Just fun to watch it all happen.

Limited parking in this area. Just walk to the Kona pier from your parking place and see where the King of Hawaii lived.

This is an interesting area, the pier is right downtown and where some of the fishing trips depart. On the day we went, there were several groups of people fishing from the pier, and a couple large groups of teens hanging out, sunbathing and lounging on the cement. Everyone was chilling, friendly and relaxed. The nearby swim areas is protected... More

Went swimming & snorkeling here a few times during our stay. Lots of people, but it is in the heart of down town. Definitely will return. The Fish Hopper Restaurant across the street is a great place to eat!

Great place to swim! Easy, easy in, and there is always someone there. Follow the bouys. Use the grey shelves to leave your stuff. Clearly, local culture means your stuff will be safe. Clear enough to see fish, calm every time I saw it.

This pier has a lot going on from bike rentals, diving, tour boats, beach and swimming and a beautiful view of Ali'i Drive. Nice place to hang out.

The pier is the location of the Ironman World Championship, and is a popular place for a morning swim workout. Buoys are located along the shore to define the swimming area and to keep (most of) the boats out. The primary buoys are marked with the round trip swim distance from the pier. Most people swim to the 1.2 mile... More

Kona pier offers a place to put your slippers and towel and states to get down into the beach. It also is a dock where night and day sailing takes place. I like it the best for paddle boarding.

You can swim right here, great snorkeling for free, lot of island watching from this spot! Bring your own lunch and sit and watch all the goings on!
