Since the day the Big Island Country Club opened to rave reviews in 1997, it has been on the "must play" list of the golfing visitor to Hawaii's Big Island. That's not only because of its spectacular location and scenic beauty, but equally because of its well-deserved reputation as a course that welcomes both the novice player as well as the low-handicap expert. The course is simultaneously enjoyable yet challenging, and is designed for every level of playing ability. Designed by famed golf course architect Perry Dye, son of Pete Dye, the par 72 course has all the popular attributes and interesting features that make his layouts so popular to golfers of varying skills: wide, gently rolling bermuda grass fairways, medium-size undulating Bent grass greens, and an abundance of water.

It was my first visit at this course. Too bad I don't live here! Loved it! Every hole is different. Absolutely enjoyed the lay-out and the look at the mountains. Big wild turkeys also make your round a little bit different from what you are used to! Oh. And the staff is great. All-star team. Thank you guys.

A great golf course at a reasonable price. His ambitions to be a first class club but still operating out of temporary facilities. Course is great and playable with the owners taking the time and effort to bring it to a first class condition. Have no idea when the other facilities will be built (if ever) and what the price... Sitting above Waikoloa this course has great views to the west and north, friendly staff and some very good holes. Water in play regularly but if you go where you are supposed to, scoring possibilities are good. On the back nine we agreed this would be the big island course we would play again. However, 17, the signature hole is... More

My husband and son golfed here and loved it. Picturesque, cooler, tough and top notch staff. It was a 45 min one way drive but worth it. They'd definitely do it again. Don't golf at Kona country club - very rude staff. I hate to be negative about people but the staff at Kona were inexcusably rude. KCC need to... More

Golfing on the Big Island Big Island Country Club is a beautiful and great course to play. As a visitor it is not inexpensive but certainly less than a resort course. As a local it is as reasonable as the other public courses. The course has a very nice driving range (with mats) and practice putting and chipping areas. Water... More

For the reasonable afternoon price I enjoyed playing this course for the first time. The course is well kept although the grass on the fairways occasionally is showing the bald spots. It's not easy course. The terrain is hilly and ondulated. Golf shop is located in the round tent like building and contains also a small drink buffet. The staff... More

A bit of a drive from the kohala coast but well worth the drive. This dye design is Challenging but fair. Obvious that the new owners are maintaining a great course while they get things in order. This is a Perry Dye course that was in great condition. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you. Like most Dye courses it is challenging with lots of different stances, water, bunkers, and doglegs. There is some tame wildlife and birds that ad to its charm. The landscape is beautiful. The only drawback is... More
