Since the day the Big Island Country Club opened to rave reviews in 1997, it has been on the "must play" list of the golfing visitor to Hawaii's Big Island. That's not only because of its spectacular location and scenic beauty, but equally because of its well-deserved reputation as a course that welcomes both the novice player as well as the low-handicap expert. The course is simultaneously enjoyable yet challenging, and is designed for every level of playing ability. Designed by famed golf course architect Perry Dye, son of Pete Dye, the par 72 course has all the popular attributes and interesting features that make his layouts so popular to golfers of varying skills: wide, gently rolling bermuda grass fairways, medium-size undulating Bent grass greens, and an abundance of water.

Thank you for your review and recommending that others golf here. It is about 6-8 degrees cooler and the island green is a fantastic hole. Hope you hit the green and made par. Looking forward to seeing you again at Big Island Country Club. More

A bit of a drive from the kohala coast but well worth the drive. This dye design is Challenging but fair. Obvious that the new owners are maintaining a great course while they get things in order. No clubhouse but the Pro shop and backshop people were very friendly and helpful. Good pace of play. Would recommend in a second... More

This is a Perry Dye course that was in great condition. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you. Like most Dye courses it is challenging with lots of different stances, water, bunkers, and doglegs. There is some tame wildlife and birds that ad to its charm. The landscape is beautiful. The only drawback is... More

This course lived up to all the expectations I had from doing my research. It is a LONG way from Kona, $75 each way in a cab, so hire a car. The staff are great and very helpful, the starter got me away quickly so I could tee off early and get in front of a couple of groups. I... More

Nice course with a good variety of holes. The par 3s are all healthy length (I played from the blue tees) except 17 but that is to an island green. Course was in good condition, fairways lush, greens that held approach irons, and then putted true. Friendly staff. Reasonable rates on their website. Overall, a great day of golf.

This is the second time I have played this course. It is in great condition. The pace of play is good. The views are amazing and if you enjoy a break from the heat and the humidity of the coast, this course is perfect.

This is just a fun golf course. The layout is not overly demanding but will keep your attention. It is a bear-bones course. There is no club house but the pro shop is adequate for most needs. Entry to the course is beautiful. Course conditions are about on par with everything except the top-tier public courses on the island. The... More

We played BI cc twice because we enjoyed it so much. Its cooler than down near the coast, the course layout is interesting and the wildlife may seem strange but really fun.
