I can't really give an accurate review, but we did go the Kailua Pier for the night time manta ray dive. At night the pier itself is almost pitch black - would love to see more night time lighting.

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott King Kamehameha Kona hotel and the Kailua Pier is adjacent to the small beach in back of the hotel. I had difficulty adjusting to Hawaii time after traveling from JFK and that left me rising before the sun during most of my visit. But, that was a good thing, especially since things... More

The pier is located along Alii Drive and adjacent to shops, restaurants and all walkable along the lovely bay in Kailua Kona. The Ironman World Championships uses it as the start and finish of the race. Body glove snorkel cruises and a few others use the pier as well as cruise ship tenders when the cruise ships come in midweek... More

Interesting area. Lots of chickens roamed around in the grassy areas. Came from the ship without any plans and just wandered around

Must go on Atlantis submarine ride! It is breathtaking! Good trolley stop and swimming. A landmark area.

It is used for tour boats and for cruise shop to off- and pick up visitors to Kona. It sits out into Anacho'omalu Bay at the water side of the Marriott Courtyard.

A walk along the pier is just a relaxing, refreshing experience. The pier is wide, very solid (concrete) and has been recently resurfaced. It's nice morning, afternoon, or evening. We avoid it when there is a canoe race or other festivity, as it becomes very crowded and congested. But, most of the time, it a great laid-back, quiet experience.

Accessible location to beach/ piers, stores/ shopping, restaurants, public transit, and a $2 Kona Trolley that takes youbto several beaches and resorts within reach. There's lots of equipment rentals. Lovely atmosphere. Recommended for singles or families.

We saw a number of open water swimmers training for the ironman competition. Source of a number of tours -- submarine, small boats, dinner cruises etc. Good place to look at the shoreline and the village.

Provides a place to walk out and get a good view back at the best part of town, the heritage site, and the seawall. Also, you might get to see some swimmers training, some interesting boats, and a ferry arrival.
