The view from the top of this mountain is amazing. I haven't done the hike myself. Have to be incredibly fit! Come on the 4th of July for the races up and back! It's fun just to watch!

Hiking the race route the day after the race was pretty exciting! Such a fun climb and amazing views of the city at the top.

Very cool place to look around. Especially when the runners are ther for the race. Look up on the mountain and see the trail they run on.

Best part of cursing it when you get to take in all the beautiful scenery along the way. Our view of Mt. Marathon was everything we dreamed it would be. We would love to return and hike around it someday.

I am pretty sure it is not allowed, however, there are campsites in the area near the mountain. I also agree with the traveler from AZ , bears are dangerous! Bears have killed people even in trails commonly used. Caution is... More

Yes you can go by yourself and most people do not carry bear spay or bells. However, you should be in good physical shape and have some hiking experience. The trail (even on the easier trail) is quite steep. Follow the... More
