I have lived 20 miles away for 20 years and did not know it was here, even though I have gone to the D.C. Smithsonian. This is a great museum which displays and tells several stories very well. One is the story of the confederate General Locomotive being stolen from here during the civil war. The General is on display... More

The museum is a great place to learn some of the history of the South. There is a 20 minute movie that explains the taking of a stem locomotive by the North to disrupt the South in Chattanooga. Many exhibits to see for families of all ages.

This is by far one of my favorite places in Kennesaw to visit because of the cool history of the train. If you ever heard of the great locomotive chase then you are familiar with this museum. There is a great movie at the museum that shows a reenactment of the chase. They done a great job at restoring this... More

I have taken visiting family members here and it is a pretty cool place. It is home to the General locomotive from the 1862 Great Locomotive Chase. There are lots of civil war items as well. It is located in downtown Kennesaw, Ga which is a great little town.

This compact museum is home to The General, the famous locomotive stolen by Union spies who wanted to destroy the railroad in an effort to end the war more quickly. It is a neat little museum, worth a visit if you are in the area.

We visited on Train weekend where there were train enthusiasts were displaying their train layout treasures everywhere. The museum is loaded with hands on history of the Civil War days and trains. If your planning on returning just get the annual pass that is shared with the Smith-Gilbert Gardens in the area. You can get this on line before you... More

We had not heard of this museum before but were so glad we found it. So many Civil war and train artifacts. If you are a history buff or train lover do not miss this museum

A great addition to visiting Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. One of the main characters in the Great Locomotive Chase is located here.
