After visiting Cowpens National Battlefield, we stopped at King's Mountain. They have a very nice interpretive center and the forested area is beautiful. There is a 1.5 mile trail loop that leads to the upper area of the mountain and two primary monuments (one to the area where colonial forces turned the tide of battle and one commemorating the battle... I have been here with guests who are not very mobile, and those who could walk all day. First, at the visitor center the 30 minute movie is very, very good. It's both informative and entertaining, and a new visitor to the Charlotte area learns that history in the area goes back to Revolutionary War times. There is a walk... More

Beautiful little 1.5 mile loop hike. Trail is fairly easy and on a paved path with plenty of benches to stop and rest if you need but bring your own water. Dogs are allowed, just must be on a leash. The trail head says to go counter clockwise but if you go clockwise you go downhill on the "big" hill... More

There is a nice walk around the battlefield with lots of interesting markers and monuments. There is a good film, artifacts and information in the Visitor's Center. This relatively unknown battle was very important during the Revolutionary War and I learned a lot about the war in the south during my visit.

I've been going there all my life. If you love history like I do, this is the place for you. I live 10 minutes from some of the bloodiest battles fought in the U.S. Love the living history farm too.

I have not been to a NPS site that I didn't love. This is no exception. There is just great history in this part of the country. We enjoyed the 1.5 mile walk around the battleground. The staff were great. I recommend taking the time to watch the movie. It's very informative.

My 3 boys and I went to this park to get a stamp in our book, but ended up staying and doing the tour at 2:15 which was free. Leah was our tour guide and she was very knowledgeable and friendly. We all learned a lot about the battle that took place there and it taught my boys about respecting... More

I grew up in the midwest. Everything that we were taught about the American Revolution was focussed on the Northeast - Boston, MA., Philadelphia, PA., etc. It wasn't until I moved to South Carolina that I realized that the Carolinas played a huge role in the War for Independence. South Carolina in particular is loaded with historical battle sites. Kings... More

Bring your best walking shoes because a visit here requires you to literally climb a "mountain". Beautiful scenery competes with history. Along the route are markers identifying the action as the Patriots closed-in on the Loyalists at the top of the mountain. Watch the film before ascending the mountain.

We drove from Charlotte and reached around noon.. didn't seem like they had lot of parking space to handle holiday crowd but we found 1 reasonably fast. There are still plenty fall colors and beautiful trees. The hike till tower was about 30mins and perfect weather. Clicked lots of pictures. Worth the drive and will definitely come back again.
