I wouldn't miss something more exciting to see Lake Eklutna - but we had time and enjoyed driving out to the lake, and several of the other lakes nearby. Mosquito Lake is aptly named!

We took a drive to Lake Eklutna one weekend in September, and we were happy we did. The foliage was beautiful with all the yellows and browns glistening in the Fall sunlight. There is a great walking path along the lake which is slightly over...More

One of our favorite easy hikes along the shore of the lake when we have visitors who are not prepared for an Alaskan backcountry day hike. Can walk as far out as you want.

We went for an afternoon walk with another family of young children. The lake is amazing. There is an ice cream shop on the way out. It had local flavors was a good way to end an afternoon.

We arrived at 8 PM in the evening. There were still lots of people hiking and playing around the water. There were loaner children's life vests which was very nice. It is beautiful there and worth the drive there just to see the area.

The state park brochure depicts a boat ramp that leads to the water. My friends and I brought our kayaks for an afternoon. It appears that the boat ramp is no longer going down to the water. We had to carry our kayaks a few...More

Drove from ANC to Denali and stopped at Eklutna on the way. It's really easy to get to from ANC and only about an hours drive. Once you turn off Hwy 1, it's about a 15-20 minute drive to the site (paved road). Ample parking...More

I've been camping and biking at Eklutna and it's really fun. The water is a rich glacier blue color and it's a great place to take pictures.
