It was great to find a 7:30am Sunday Mass to start our week in Alaska. The cathedral was an easy walk from our downtown hotel, the Anchorage Grande. The congregation and priests were very welcoming, the church was beautiful inside and out, the homily was very well executed by an energetic and well spoken young priest. Attending Mass while vacationing... More

As always when we are in a different country or city we look to see where there is a Catholic Church is to goo to Sunday Mass. We were very lucky to have this Cathedral so close. We did go to a 7:30 Mass and was pleased to see this small but welcoming church with its beautiful stained glass windows.... More

We stopped here for Mass on a Sunday morning. The church was small, but very intimate. They had just gotten new stained glass windows that fit in beautifully with the church's interior. The church was crowded many locals as well as tourists, One of the previous pastors said the Mass and he was very encouraging and positive.

The 6 windows in the nave of the church have been replaced with 100 year old stained glass windows that were "rescued" from a closed church in PA. They were restored and brought to Anchorage as part of the Cathedral's 100 year anniversary program. Through a combination of age-old master craftsmanship and modern construction techniques, the windows were re-sized and... More

I noticed the church as we had a brief stop in Anchorage during a cruisetour and were walking along Fifth Ave. I am always attracted by interesting building exteriors, especially those of churches, and the pretty exterior structure of Holy Family Cathedral got my attention. I did not have an opportunity to go inside.

It's a little church in an earthquake prone section of town, which does its duty by helping the homeless, who overwhelm the neighborhood.

Oldest Catholic Church in Anchorage and it now serves a mix that includes the local homeless shelter and some of the wealthiest folks in town. Mass in Spanish and English and Latin. Check their web site for the schedule. People come from all over town to attend Mass here. Visitors are welcomed and it is within easy walking distance of... More

Holy Family Cathedral does not compare to cathedrals in Europe or even New York City for that matter. However, it is located right downtown Anchorage and easily identifiable as a cathedral. There is a regular mass schedule posted and all are welcome. There is a very small Catholic bookstore nearby that has very limited hours of operation. Currently they are... More
