When I lived in Anchorage decades ago, this incredible experience of bicycling along Turnagain Arm, was not available. Now, one can bicycle from Indian to Girdwood and back on a paved, dedicated bicycle path, a round trip of 30 miles... or from Bird Point to Girdwood or Bird Point to Indian, cutting that distance in half. While there is one... More

Along the Seward Highway and Turnagain Arm (south beyond the city, where Alaska "really" begins), we are blessed to have some wonderful public trails that are enjoyed by residents & visitors alike -- and are easily/quickly accessed as well, for hiking, running, and/or bicycling... Beginning just past Potter Marsh (at the city's southern boundary), there is are hiking paths within... More

If you find yourself in Anchorage in early spring, when just about everything is wet or muddy and the snow is no longer abundant enough for skiing, check out the Turnagain Arm Trails. From Potter to McHugh Creek to Rainbow, these trails stretch along Turnagain Arm just south of Anchorage near the Seward Highway. Since they face south and travel... More

One of the best roads in Alaska. Not to be missed. The best is rent a car and enjoy the drive. From Anchorage to Seward. Loved it.

After a bear scare on the Mc Hugh creek trail, we decided to take a 6-mile "hike" (walk) along this beautiful paved path along the Turnagain arm. We parked in the Bird Creek campground day use parking lot, which has a 30' dirt path leading to the paved trail. This trail and access to it are easily accessible for anyone... More

We drove by Turnagain arm 4 times on the way to Whittiar and Seward from Anchorage... It is beautiful... WE saw beluga whales, swimming in the mudflats one time and sunset the other time... Our most beautiful memories came from exploring this area.. Again a must do!! Wish we could stop by the Wildlife Center.. but didn't have time.. so... More

We took the trolly ride around Anchorage points of interest first thing. Then we went for a walk in Earthquake park, toured the Ulu Factory, watched silver salmon coming in, loved the float planes, went for a flight, etc.

Turnagain Trails located in Anchorage Alaska. My husband and I were looking for something different to do in Anchorage. We thought a horse trek into the state park would be a nice idea. When we contacted Patrick, we learned we could do an overnight trip. He provides the tents, sleeping bags, and all the meals. He even provided the transportation... More
