Our tour group stopped here on our first day, and the guide running the church tour was very informative and enjoyed sharing the history of the churches on the site. The burial spirit houses are something we have never seen, and it is amazing that...More

The main focus of this particular Trip Advisor attraction is the old St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, located in Eklutna Village, about 30-miles North of Anchorage, Alaska, out the Glenn Highway. However, because the old and the new churches are side-by-side, I feel that one...More

The graves are a colorful reminder of lives lived long ago. The concept is a lost tradition, but a fascinating one. We wandered the little cemetery for a few minutes, but did not spend long.

Very similar to all the orthodox churches, they did not have the heater on ,so we froze our backs. Not to much to see inside. I would not go out of my way to visit this place.

Really interesting stories about those buried in the cemetary. Never saw spirit houses before. Lots of history, and our tour guide was full of information. Very quiet spot, off the beaten path.

Really nice self tour! Little gift shop and they ask for donations to keep the place going! Worth a stop for sure. The graves are decorated by colors(each family has their own color)plus one looks just like a two story farm house!

Eklutna is really small and ya have to look well for it's location but it's worth it. The host does a wonderful job of informing you about the church and it's customs and her own association with the church. The cemetery is well worth looking...More
