As a Social Studies teacher, I'm never disappointed by the many historical sites managed by NPS. I can't believe this is my first visit here, but all I can say is, "Check it out!" It's off-season so not a lot going on, but the visitor's center has great displays and be sure to watch the movie.

I really didn't know what to expect when I stopped here kind of on a whim while passing through the area. Boy was I surprised that I ended up spending about three hours walking the trails and investigating the educational materials here. From the visitor center to the working (or partially working) farmstead to the informative trails, it was all... More

As usual, the National Park Service has done a good job. We love to visit our national parks and monuments. A short hop off I-64, makes this an easy place to visit while passing through Southern Indiana. The 15 minute video at the visitor's center does a good job of explaining the period of Lincoln's life spent here. Unfortunately visiting... More

Abraham Lincoln lived here from about age 7 to 21, during which time his mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln died. This National Park Service facility focuses on that part of his early life and features an informational video that offers an overview of other points throughout the property that are relevant. We arrived just prior to a bus loaded with talkative... More

We love the National Parks system! This was an informative sight with a great Welcome Center that has some interesting displays. The grounds involve a fair amount of walking (although you can drive from the Welcome Center to the farm area). Our only disappointment was the buildings in the farm area were closed - apparently they aren't staffed off-season. It... More

What made Lincoln the man that lead our nation through its most tumultuous time? You could argue that this place did that... He spent 14 years here, working the land and learning his dad's craft while be read anything he could get his hands on. He buried his mom and his sister here. And he worked through some community issues.... More

We have visited several Lincoln sites including the memorial in Washingon, DC and the home in Springfield so we thought that the Boyhood Home would be interesting. This site concentrates on events of the 14 years that the Lincoln family lived in Indiana. The memorial building shows a video which is a good introduction. There are also many photos and... More

In my opinion this is the best representative of Lincoln's childhood. He lived here from the ages of 7 ( when the family came here from KY) to 21 (when the family moved on to IL). I have not seen the sites in IL but have seen those in KY. This is also the place where his mother (Nancy Hanks... More

walked both of the trails here, the stone trail would be the one to choose it has different stones from places he stayed at and had a part in, the other trail was kinda boring for me, it had some information about plants. the farm was interesting, they where in the period dress. the movie was short about 15 minutes,...
