We stopped by here on our way to Chicago! The grayish color dome is quite unique!!! The details in the architecture were just incredible! I just wish we had more time to stop and tour the inside of this beautiful building.

Beautiful structure,...expansive,...ornate,...tight security,...contains historical facts. A visit requires much walking and maneuvering stairs outside the building. If you are an Illinois resident, contacting your State Representative or Senator prior to your visit to arrange a guided tour is advisable. Parking is close by, as are...More

Took a guided tour of the capital building and it was well worth a visit. Beautiful building with a great deal of history. Highly recommend a visit. One of the nicest capital buildings I’ve seen. Allow about an hour.

I’m surprised this building is not in top 5 things to do of Springfield. When my family decided to stop by, we didn’t know it’s open to public even on Sundays. Neither did we know it offers a guided tour free of charge. The building...More

This building was so vastly different on the inside than the outside. It was huge, gray and overwhelming. But, once inside, we were stunned by its beautify, artistry and majesty. We had a fantastic tour guide who brought us to the third level. She explained...More

I'm a stranger here myself, but other than these other informative answers, why not just call the Capitol and ask about making specific arrangements?
