I have been to this zoo many times, it is a smaller zoo. You will not find lions and tigers here. They have very friendly penguins that will come right up to you with a small chain link fence between you, they like attention. They have gibbons and monkeys, a bear, cougar, wolves and some other exotics. They have a... More

We visited this zoo for the first time last weekend and we all enjoyed it. It's small, but well kept. They had quite a nice variety of animals. (Cougars, penguins, tortoises, monkeys, Bald Eagles, etc.) We took all three of our boys, ranging in age from 14-2. We all enjoyed it. It's super small in comparison to the Saint Louis... More

On our travels throughout the country we try to find anything to do with animals wherever we go. We love finding little gems like this. Sure it's not huge, and sure it doesn't have all the frills, but this place has character! We came with less than hour left of closing, and we practically had the place to ourselves on... More

It's hard to look at this as a zoo. If I look at it as something much smaller where children can interact and get excited about some animals--yes, that would work better. There's not going to be much flash, yet it is kind of nice to stroll around and see some animals that are fairly up-close. And not every animal... More

I had a couple of hours to kill, and a local waitress recommended this small wonder. I grew up in Chicago. My local zoos are the world class Brookfield Zoo, and the smaller Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago near Lake Michigan. Since I became too physically challenged for Lincoln Park Zoo, I've not been to a zoo, This zoo is... More

The zoo is located over by the Lake. I've been to many a zoo but this one was quaint with an extensive population of animals. We saw eagles, penguins, a sloth, snakes, monkeys and more. Even saw a deer that wasn't in captivity. Great education classes for the kids too. Pleasant way to spend an afternoon in Springfield.

Good weather and say many animals. Kids had fun. Most animals got up close. Nice little walk through the park. Took us about an hour to see all the animals. This is good if you have small children!

I haven't been to any major zoos. But this little zoo is not well kept. They don't mow. There are several animals that do not have a partner and that made me sad for them. The penguins were really neat. That's about it.
