We traveled here going between Slieve League and Donegal-- we saw some signs while driving and decided to stop in. They had beautiful wool products and we needed up with a great blanket and wool cap. The owners were incredible friendly and informative and watching the hand lookers make the products was really interesting. I've worn my hat often and... More

We stopped at Kilcar having been recommended to see Studio Donegal, not only to see the beautiful clothes, scarves, hats and blankets but also to see first-hand how they are still traditionally made - skills that have been handed down through generations. We went upstairs and watched the wool being wooven into the most fantastic garments which are also on... More

We were treated to a full tour of this studio by the masters of weaving. There is mechanization of a few processes but the weaving is all done by hand. We met two skilled and dedicated weavers who took precious production time to discuss their craft. Thrilled and honored by their gift. Just wish there were more Donegal apprentices waiting... More

Stopped in here on a recommendation from a friend, and we're glad we did. It is just off the main road from Donegal to Sliabh Liag, so it is easy to get to. There is a small shop in which they sell their hand wovens, but the best part is the visit to the actual factory where the goods are... More

Unique opportunity to see traditional production techniques more often found in a museum. Friendly place. Save some space in your luggage for a wearable piece of hand crafted quality clothing.

Free to tour the factory floor. All of the employees were very friendly and welcoming. It was interesting to learn about how the tweed was made. It was interesting that they mostly use wool from Australia/NZ instead of Ireland wool since it is much more coarse. They made nice pieces, but there was a lack of sizes, so we ended... More

While in Southwest Donegal, we visited other shops that carried woven articles. Studio Donegal's items were the most beautiful handwoven articles I have ever seen (and I've traveled in other parts of Ireland). The colors reflect Donegal and with the selection of hues and colors, you are certain to find something that will match your taste. There are blankets, sweaters,... More

The colour in the goods here is stunning. It's one thing to wander around the shop, but do so after doing some hiking about the local area if you get the chance. You will see the colours from the fields, mountains, sea and heath repeated in many of the weaved goods. We bought a wonderfully soft blanket with a soft... More
