The Castello di Bracciano - a stone's throw from Rome - is one of the most impressive castles in Italy, Europe and the world. Completed in 1485 by the Orsini family, around an existing 12th century Vico fortress, it is one of the few renaissance castles in Italy that - thanks to the Odescalchi family - is open to the public. It also plays host to numerous weddings, galas and important cultural events throughout the year.

This is a must see attraction. Magnificent views over Lago Bracciano. The castle is beautifully restored. Magnificent rooms and helpful explanations. There are tours in English and Italian. Ask about the Medici princess who pushed her lovers down a shaft to land on spikes.

It's a beautiful castle that tells the local history around the Odescalchi family. Tours are organized and some parts can be rented for private events.

Enjoyed my visit to the castle, very interesting. Great views and kept in immaculate condition considering how ancient this castle is.

...I am not a history buff but when I do see something like this I don't want to see it filled with things not from the period or not related to the structure. Seemed an odd mix of artifacts. but the view from the sentry wall was spectacular. Also the town of Bracciano was not especially appealing although we found... More

After reading some of the reviews we were not sure if this tour would be worth the price of 8,5€ (6€ for students). However, we are very glad that we decided to go. The tour takes about one hour. The guide talks italian, but you can ask questions in english. Some of the reviews say that there are not enough... More

Really special experience. The only shame is that this magnificent castle with its 12th century heritage amazing views and imposing presence is known as the place Tom cruise got married. Don't let that put you off this is a really fantastic place with wonderful views

The castle has been well preserved and a joy to visit. Full of history of both families who owned/own. Make sure to take the tour. Lots of information and is included in the ticket price.

Antonina from Citywonders tours took us on a relaxing half day tour of the castle with special tour of the secret garden with beautiful views of the lake. It was also interesting to see a castle that is still in use by a princess today. No crowds at all! About an hour easy drive north of Rome. Wonderful restaurants close... More
