Love Porter Square

Stayed in a local B & B and bopped around Porter Square...lots of restaurants and shopping. Very local feeling.. not big box.

Standard sorts of businesses associated with daily living. Markets, restaurants, etc. has a truly filthy red line (subway) stop in need of general maintenance. No need to go here unless you live here.

Porter is right in between Davis and Harvard but there is not as much to do in this area/the "square" is not as cohesive. I would recommend walking in either direction to the next stop.

Take the Red Line, and leave your car at Alewife station on a Saturday. You won't be sorry. Just use the day to explore Cambridge and Porter Square is a good place to end it n the evening. Music is at TOAD and the Lizard Lounge. Plenty of dining options, including Mexican, Asian and Vegetarian. Sort of Cambridge's Upper West... More

Too many stores, too many cars, not enough space. Completely ruined by someone's greed. No excellent shops, but supermarket and hardware store are convenient.

There are some bars, restaurants, and shopping in Porter Square. It's one T stop outbound beyond Harvard Square. If there's no other reason to visit, don't go.

There is a great book store and an even better hardware store (Tags) in this shopping area. Recently they opened a Panera restaurant.

Thankfully, there's a good hardware and kitchenware shop, one of those disappearing all over the US. Beyond that, there's a very good supermarket, a liquor store and 2 major pharmacy chains. Nothing more lifting than that.

Thank Eleni O
