The Central Square Theater puts on 6-8 productions a year. It's a small theater. The sets are usually very nice. The acting varies. The shows they produce tend to have a scientific twist and frequently a historical basis. Often the plays bring out prejudice. HOWEVER, don't believe this means that the productions are dry or purely cerebral. NO, they're frequently... More

This is a unique venue- seating on three sides of the stage. Very small and we had seats in the back row. Honestly, I would prefer them to the floor seats as you can see the entire stage. Either way, you cannot lose with this unique theater!

The Nora Theater Company, Underground Railroad, and the Titanic Theatre Company, to name three, all perform here. Performance space in the Boston area is tight, so it's great to have this busy venue. We just bought tickets for "Copenhagen," and we have seen many other plays here. Seats are all good, ambiance is appropriate, snacks in the lobby--what more could... More

The Central Square Theater is actually made up of two theater companies, The Nora and Underground Railway Theater, and both offer consistently interesting plays, a variety of serious works and comedies, almost all worth seeing. They also have an intermittent series that are related to science, chosen, I think, in some kind of collaboration with MIT. These are not as... More

This is a very small theater, with a central stage and seating on both sides of the stage. Every seat is good, as you will always be close to the actors. The location is convenient (T accessible) and the theater validates parking for $5 a night. A good place to see a wide variety of shows.

My husband and I went to see Cassandra Speaks at this gem of a theater. We have seen many plays here and enjoy the intimate feel of the theater. Depending upon the play, the seating varies, however I have never had a bad seat. Today we were in the front row, which was excellent, but even the back row would... More

I recently saw "Sila" and was more impressed that I expected to be. First of all, you can take your drinks and nibbles into the theater. There really isn't a bad seat in the place. I agree that drinks are expensive for what you get and the nibbles could be a tad more inventive--I seem to remember cookies and brownies.... More

I suppose if the play you come to see is good the ambiance of the theater doesn't really matter. The play I saw here, though, wasn't that great and the experience as a whole left me unimpressed. The lobby has the feel of a modern office, the bar is small, expensive and not well stocked and the seats are not... More

This small theater seats only 150 people. The audience sits on either side of the stage and looks down on the performance, and is only 10 rows deep. You can clearly see the actor's faces and the acoustics are good. The set design, though simple is effective. We saw the "Mountain Top", a play about Martin Luther King. I thought... More
