This was a wonderful museum. I highly recommend taking the tour. I found out much of what I though to be true about Poe was NOT. It was facinating enough to make me buy a bigraphy in the gift shop. Plant at least 2 hours...More

a lot depends on the guide you get but if you are a Poe fan this is a must see. Much more to his story than most people know.

I took my 14 yr. old daughter. She really enjoyed the museum. We learned some interesting facts about Poe. There must have been an event scheduled because they were setting up a tent in the courtyard. It took up half the space. I would have...More

Even though Poe didn't live here, many of the items from his childhood as well as many of his writings and furnishings are there. They conduct a reading of a short story in the garden you should go to. Well worth admission.

We've actually visited the museum twice. It's in an old, tiny-roomed house in Richmond, with a fun gift shop at the entrance. You twist around up and down to explore the site, part of which is done in a lovely little contemplative garden between buildings....More

FYI - The adjacent free lot is kinda small, and street parking can be challenging to find. Just know that you might find a spot right away, but on a busy day you could be searching a little harder and a little farther. We... More
