I found out the morning of July 4 that the gardens are opened to the public free of charge on Independence Day, we went even though it was raining off and on. It turned out to be a good experience, the gardens were not crowded and it was not too hot. We had a great tome walking around and the... More

We drove up here from Newport News, VA and it was worth it. We got there right at 5 pm and it was almost dark. It turned out to be the perfect time. We got great parking super close to the Visitor's Center. It was already pretty packed inside, but it was mostly people just waiting for their whole group... More

The promotions advertised half a million lights and that might be understated. This is a beautiful display, great place to walk while enjoying the lovely (peacock) and frivolous (unicorn) designs. The reflection of the conservatory surrounded by colorful Christmas trees in the lake was especially enjoyable and made a great picture. I also liked the items available in the souvenir... More

Everything was perfection! We ate as a group of 16 in the Robin cafe... make sure and have the meatloaf... yum! The gift shop is spectacular. The curating of the items is SO well done. I have been in museum / garden gift shops all over the world and I can honestly say this is one of the very best.... More

First time to see the lights, was very nice. Very relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the lights. Lots of walking, a few buildings to warm up in and to enjoy there were trains and doll houses in one building and the visitor center for the other building with a store and cafe. Nice time for families or couples.

Attended the GardenFest of Lights holiday light show over the weekend. Very well done. Easy to walk the entire area. Event is described as the ultimate holiday extravaganza but there was no reference to Christmas or holiday celebration. I also suggested to the volunteers taking tickets music would be a nice addition. Regardless it is a must see at least... More

Perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit! This is the third time I have visited the light show at this wonderful botanical garden and it never disappoints! I highly recommend a visit here, anytime of the year but the Gardenfest is not to be missed! There is something for everyone!

Came here with the family over Thanksgiving and was blown away by the light displays and the beauty of the grounds themselves. Traffic was heavy for the first night, but well under control and we got in and out easily. The displays themselves were well done and it was not overly gaudy. Wonderful holiday event for all ages!

As a local resident, I happily spend many hours at each of these attractions each year. When family recently visited from the West Coast, these are the two attractions I most recommended to them.
