I just attended the 34th annual Watermelon festival at Carytown. It is bustling with ecclectic stores and both vintage and modern shops, the best restaurants in Richmond. That's a must-visit shopping district in the Richmond Metro. It is also pet-friendly. A wide variety of things...More

A walk down Cary St. (and the side streets as well) is a fun experience. There are many quirky little shops and restaurants of all types and styles here. I liked the plentiful wall art scattered in and about the area. Carytown has a distinct...More

Carytown reminds me of a place I would go in my 20s to have a good time but would always leave unsatisfied because it seems like everyone is trying a bit too hard to be cool. I'm in my 40s now with three kids. I...More

so much to see - people, shops, musicians. and so many places to choose to eat - all type of cuisine and prices. I highly recommend making Carytown a stop if coming to Richmond. Parking can be tricky on this one way street

This is a funky neighborhood with lots of restaurants & shops for tourists & locals. I especially like Greek for Cary for inexpensive Greek food.

Too many restaurants and shops to count are in Carytown. I'm sure anyone could certainly find a restaurant, bar, or cage to suit their tastes. Good luck with parking!

We really enjoyed the shops and restaurants. Quite an extensive array of both. One of the few places in VA we've found that has attempted to provide healthier foods. This is a fun day lace to people watch from ordinary to extraordinary. Instead of buildings...More

The answers provided are correct. I don't think any restaraunts allow dogs in. But, some shops will allow them. I know there is a dog pet treat shop that you and your dog can shop at.

Many of the shops keep their own, non-standard hours. I am sure you can check online for a specific shop. But, if that isn't an option, I would stick to 10-5 for M-S and on Sunday, 12-5. For example, Ten Thousand... More

Carytown is a busy place but not impossible for parking. It just looks that way. Try Cary Court next to Can Can Restaurant or street parking on Cary Street and side streets. There is mid-block parking behind some Cary Street... More
