The shops and eateries were charming! Lunch at Bakers Crust was perfect. We had the $10 duo of the house made soup with a panini sandwich made with house baked rustic bread. After browsing many quaint shops with unique wares, we finished off the afternoon...More

We visited the weekend of the marathon. No way to drive and we ended up in Carytown. Lots of nice little shops that we enjoyed and spent too much money in. I think most anybody would find this a nice, safe district to wander through...More

We only drove through the area. Time was limited. It looked like an assortment of funky shops and restaurants in an interesting neighborhood surrounded by unique homes. I rather preferred Alexandria's Old Town to Carytown.

You'll enjoy strolling the quaint and unique shops, eateries and atmosphere of this bustling area. Be aware of cars, foot traffic and bicycles. Stop and enjoy on a sunny day!

Plenty to do and the food scene is unreal. Great shopping with lots of little Boutiques and oddities. If you make a trip to Richmond dont miss Carytown.

Went to get iPhone fixed in carytowm location. On street 2 hour parking was plenty. Stopped at fast food restaurant on my way out and had no problem getting right back on the highway home.

Great strolling and shopping area. Find a place to park on a side street and walk in. You can easily spend hours strolling, shopping the unique offerings (just a few chains, most are indy stores). Restaurants offering all range of food and prices. Movie theater,...More

Average shopping here, despite the hype. Like the French Thai restarant for lunch though very much. There's also a fairly large store that sells items from third world countries: best bet and helps others.

Drove by and stopped while in Charlottesville. Historic town, with local shops. Do look for Carytown Cupcakes, they do make real tasty one. Probably the highlight of the trip there.

The answers provided are correct. I don't think any restaraunts allow dogs in. But, some shops will allow them. I know there is a dog pet treat shop that you and your dog can shop at.

Many of the shops keep their own, non-standard hours. I am sure you can check online for a specific shop. But, if that isn't an option, I would stick to 10-5 for M-S and on Sunday, 12-5. For example, Ten Thousand... More

Carytown is a busy place but not impossible for parking. It just looks that way. Try Cary Court next to Can Can Restaurant or street parking on Cary Street and side streets. There is mid-block parking behind some Cary Street... More
