The exhibits are always well done and live, free jazz music on Thursday evenings makes it even better. While listening to the music enjoy an adult beverage and some food from the excellent food counter and then enter the museum (for a fee).

THE VMFA is a wonderful museum. There's so much history and culture on display. It's also a great venue for big events or just happy hour on Fridays.

Great selection of art, great special exhibits and music. Almost every night they have something special going on. Thursday night is free jazz night. Just buy a dinner or snack or nothing but enjoy the jazz.

Not sure about the open time. It should be posted on the web site. We had tickets during the week when they were not busy and they allowed us to go in early.

We were able to enter the exhibit 30 minutes before our set time so I doubt I would be a problem.

I would give it at least an hour. If you have a particular interest in the other items, such as the gold and other jewelry, household furnishing, etc., plan on longer.
