We came to see a special exhibit and were completely blown away by the museum as a whole. It was extremely impressive with a great variety of periods. We spent about 3 hours there and still did not see it all. Parking is $5 but admission is free.

This is a very attractive building inside and the grounds outside are worth a walk around to see the sculpture including a Chehuly glass installation in the water which we loved. For us the main attraction was the Faberge collection - a bucket list item which we never expected to see in Richmond but it was fabulous! We went there... More

We often eat in "Amuse" after exhibits. We lived within walking distance of the museum. The exhibits are world-class. Rodin was particularly exciting (even after visiting it in Paris). Great gift shop.

The layout and exhibits are fantastic. Over the past few years, I have seen a fantastic Elvis photo exhibit and the Thinker statue to mention a few. My wife is the artist in the family but I love the VMFA. Also the cafe is a great place to eat. A real gem for Richmond.

They have several floors, each one exhibiting different periods of art. The permanent collection can be viewed without charge at this excellent museum. They charge for special exhibits only. Loved their collection of American art, as well as their art deco and Tiffany lamps collection. This is a must-see while visiting this capital city of Virginia.

My husband and I loved this museum. What stood out to us most were the sections devoted to Art Nouveau and Art Deco. We'd never seen that in a museum before, and everything was spectacular! The furniture, art, and everyday objects were exquisite! Of course, the rest of the museum was lovely, but those areas stood out to us the... More

First rate art museum that is much bigger than one would think for a city the size of Richmond. One could spend the whole day in the many different sections plus the special exhibits. The only charge is for these special exhibits, otherwise it is free. The Faberge Collection is exceptional. The best outside of Russia.

This is a world class art museum. The Faberge collection is unbelievable with 5 Large Easter Eggs, 25 small eggs, picture frames, boxes & Bowls. The English Silver Collections is great. Do not miss The Tiffany Punch Bowl & Lamps. We loved the Art Deco & Art Nouveau collections. British Sporting Paintings and numerous John Singer Sargents and several Impressionist... More

The exhibit of Tiffany Glass is breathtaking and to see so many different types of art in one place is amazing. I went back to see the Faberge Collection when it returned from its world tour and was absolutely amazed at the depth of it and glad it now has new exhibition space.

I can't recommend this museum highly enough. It's right in the heart of Richmond with cheap and easy parking. The museum building itself is an architectural work of art. Access is free (!) and there's great food (cafe and upscale restaurant) and a well thought out museum shop. The Faberge collection was spectacular - thoughtfully curated and interesting to our...
