The size and then the sheer amount of CSA soldiers buried here is amazing. And then there's presidents Monroe and Tyler, Jen Stuart, Pickett and Jefferson Davis. The Names River as a backdrop and this is quite a historical experience.

This is a great place to just wander or to take the tour. The tour has never disappointed (having taken it a few times). There is a short movie and then you walk for about a hour. It is hilly and often done at a...More

This is one of the best graveyards anywhere. It has a great view of the city scape also. If you like headstones and monuments then it is worth seeing. One thing however it is large and very hilly, some steep.

What a quaint piece of history. Nicely maintained and easily accessible area. Full of history and character.

You'd never think a cemetery was a "fun" place to visit but this one is SO interesting! I highly recommend the guided tour at first..then wander. Enjoy the views over the river city. The pyramid; the presidents; the symbols; the peace and beauty. Enjoy losing...More

This place is surprisingly huge and hidden away in a corner of Richmond. It has an amazing view of the river, but other than that, it's not much to look at. To be completely honest, the view becomes repetitive after a while. It's a surprisingly...More

We took a Sunday afternoon to ride/walk through the cemetery. If you are unable to walk far you can still see a lot by car or if you like walking you can see more by actually going into the plot areas and reading the old...More

Visited Hollywood Cemetery in the fall of 2015. The leaves were in full fall mode. Despite being a cemetery, this place is beautiful. I'm sure in spring and summer it is beautiful as well! So many historical figures here, including three Presidents. Jefferson Davis is...More

Richmond is a city where you can be very safe one minute but walking one block over puts you in a dangerous area. Being that you are from the UK, I would suggest that you be cautious and careful. Walking from the Capitol to... More
