€5 entry is the bargain of the century at the castle museum. Furniture, artisan equipment (weaving, tanning, carpentry, agriculture, hat making, lace making etc etc), military arsenal and much much more. Just wonderful.

Castle and local museum are same institution. Collections of the museum are in the castle on the top of the hill. I was not happy because museum was closed during the week in January. I assume that collectionas are till similar as during my last visit. And view from the castle is still beautiful.

Getting 31 students to walk up the hill (yes all of 300m) was a challenge but they were happy once they got there. The museum is inside the castle and has the most delightful views over the town. Inside it's okay, nothing like a National Museum but you get the idea. Fortunately, there were translations into English otherwise we would've... More

One of the best museums I've ever seen that explains a country's local crafts such as hat making, weaving, and farming. An interesting combination of modern art, taxidermy, prehistoric artifacts and paintings.

We liked museum - not only the exhibitions, also location in the castle itself is a good reason to visit it. My wife comes from the region but even for her there were a lot interesting artifacts and information she didn't know before. Nice place to spend an hour or more, especially in a bad weather...

Comprehensive but very little English commentary on the exhibits which was a shame since they were very interesting.

We visited the museum for almost 3 hours and in that time you get a very good impression on this part of Slovenia, from prehistoric to modern times. The city itself is restored mideval city and you have a very nice walk in the old town.

Very nice museum; lots of great artifacts. Beautifully kept building and grounds. The hosts are all very friendly and helpful. Not very exciting for kids though.

With this being a small museum in a small town, we didn't expect that there would be enough to see here. As it was raining our group decided to take a detour and have a look around this museum. They had a range of exhibitions on that gave us a brief history of the local area, the history of Slovenia... More
