This was the first European castle for me to visit. It was small but had plenty of interesting exhibits. I arrived on a rainy day and had the castle pretty much to myself. I enjoyed looking at the different displays and historic artifacts.

The museum is an eclectic mix of history, some art, some stuffed wildlife, WWII history, industrial history of the region, an outdoor area, artifacts. It's fun and interesting and has wonderful views. Fun for kids as well. They also have a gallery with rotating exhibits.

You arrive at the main attraction of Skofja Loka walking on a pleasant path starting from the town centre. The castle houses a rich but generic museum, more interesting and original the outdoor exposition in the park on its side. If you have 30 minutes...More
