This Mesa Top Loop Road gives you great views. There are surface level dwelling exhibits and excellent spots to view some of the cliff dwellings. The loop is less than 10 miles long, and driving time will vary depending on how long you stop at...More

An experience you cannot miss. We had a busy day on our trip that started in Durango, then to Mesa Verde, and then a drive all the way to Zion so we did not want to spend too much time in Mesa Verde. We started...More

Although numerous one could stop at various overlooks to see various ruins, on this day the rain made the circuit a bit interesting. During the early mid-afternoon thunderstorms, was able to see some of the sites. But, didn't feel like waiting around to see everything.

Because we were at the end of the season, we were unable to go into any of the cliff dwellings. However we were still able to drive the Ruins Road, and had a good half-day doing that.

Following this road is an excellent way to see what the park offers. There are so many archaeological sites and this will help you see most of the ones that are in good shape and do not require a tour guide. Very educational.

This is easily the best drive in the park for mesa top sites and overlooks all in one concentrated area on the six mile loop. As you drive along you move from pithouse and pueblo sites on the mesa top to overlooks of cliff dwellings....More

The Mesa Top Loop is worth taking the time to do. The views from the overlooks give you a different perspective of the dwellings and enables you to see some you would not otherwise see. Allow yourself the time to look particularly when at Oak...More

It was so interesting to drive this road and stop at the various dwellings along the way. We especially liked that the road was basically a chronological trip through the lives of the Native Americans that live here starting with the mist primitive pit houses...More
