Used to be really nice, but lately it has been hard to find parking (unless you are super early) and it is too crowded and not very clean.

A nice place to visit and go for a walk and I imagine it must get crowded during the summer as the lake is surrounded by beach area and has 3 trails, one on the beach, one just off the beach for walking only and...More

Walden Pond was the site of Henry David Thoreau's cabin in the 1845. Although the cabin is no longer standing, the site is still much the same as it was in 1845-46. Park in the large parking lot (there is a charge) and plan on...More

Many people think of Walden as a place to go in the summer. However, it is even better in the spring, fall and winter, when the crowds are gone and where walkers can be seen around the pond in deep thought, enjoying the silence of...More

Recently revisited this state park. A nice hour stroll around the lake, with a cute reproduction of Thoreau's cabin. Walk on one of the uphill trails to avoid flies along the lakeshore

I love Walden Pond. The water is clear and great for swimming, the surroundings are beautiful and the history is interesting. The beach is variable, these days there is quite a bit of sand but some years very little. The reason it isn't a 5...More

Visited on a Saturday afternoon. Walked the 1.7 mile trail around the pond. Also visited the site of the cabin. Be advised that the Visitor Center closes at 3:30 pm. Bathrooms open til 5:00 pm.

We enjoyed an easy snow shoe hike after a recent snow fall. Very picturesque. Well marked trail. Great visitors center and public restrooms. The parking fee was a bit steep at $15 for an out of state plate.

Lovely walk to commune with Thoreau's nature. Heavy use as a swimming destination in summer has compromised the rustic feel in Summer. Still worth a visit

Yes, it is a very well carved, smooth dirt path around the lake. You can get to the replica of Thoreau's cabin on a gravel trail, but the rest is dirt and leaves, but a very easy trail to maneuver.
