The cemetery is the resting place of Francis Scott Key. The cemetery is huge with many interesting dates and names, but it's also a very lovely place to take a long walk.

The cemetery holds the graves of several of my ancestors, which made it important to me. It is a very large cemetery and is very well kept by the grounds people. There was a map available to find my relatives and the help that Chris offered was incredible. I would recommend a visit if anyone is researching their history with... More

I went to this cemetery for one thing to see the burial place of Key. It is right at the entrance and there is a small parking area there (or at least what I thought was parking). I read the history signs and got pictures all while listening to the national anthem played (one of the signs played it). It... More

We came here after visiting Monocacy Battlefield when we saw Francis Scott Key was buried here. What we found was a historic cemetery extremely well laid out and planned with many different sights and information. The Key memorial is the first thing you see and beautiful, with several informational plaques placed nearby. Close to this is the maintenance building which... More

Mount Olivet Cemetery is the final resting place of Francis Scott Key and visitor can not miss the Key Monument at the entrance to the Cemetery. And I dare say that many visitors make the Key Monument their only stop, and if true they are missing so much. Hundreds of Confederate and Union Soldiers are resting here. More than 300... More

We run through this huge cemetery all the time but recently went on a candlight tour. Our guide was very friendly and excellent at what he does. We learned all about the history behind the cemetry and so many of it's residents.

well maintained and historic cemetery on a promontory above Frederick. Nice spot. Famous figures and also a significant number of Confederate and Union Graves in a long line along the back wall. Very good reading and humbling.

We really enjoyed the Nathaniel Scott Key statue and memorial, perusing old tombstones, and the markers of Confederate soldiers. This park is nicely kept up and peaceful. If you are in Frederick, it takes less than 45 minutes to see it all.

Great historical cemetery in the Frederick area. If you are an American history buff or a Civil War fan, this should be on your list of places to visit.
