We've passed the cemetery each time we've come to town but happened to be staying at an inn around the corner so decided to visit. The grave and a memorial to Francis Scott Key greet one at the main entrance. Many other interesting figures of...More

Yes! It is just a cemetery but a walk or a drive thru the cemetery would prove most interesting. History boards are set up to help the visitor find certain parts of the historical graves. Of course the jewel of the cemetery is the grave...More

We did a 2 hour candlelight tour and it was absolutely fantastic! It's not a scary ghost hunting type of tour but historical in nature and the tour guide, Chris Haugh does a great job! I can't wait to go back during the day and...More

As far as history goes, Mount Olivet delivers in spades. The centerpiece is the Francis Scott Key memorial but there is plenty more to include the graves of Barbara Fritchie, the First President in America (hint: its not Washington) and confederate graves from the battle...More

By far the most interesting graves are the soldiers who fought at the Battle of Monocacy from both the South and the North.

The cemetery is very conveniently located and worth a quick stop or longer. We popped in to see the grave of Francis Scott Key. Be sure to read the sign and push the button for music. Very special way to honor a special Maryland citizen.

A great place to walk around and visit many graves of soldiers from the civil war. Much history to see. Most are in one area. Do some research before or call ahead for literature.

This lovely cemetery is clearly a point of great pride for Frederick, Maryland. Francis Scott Key, author of our national anthem, and Barbara Fritchie are buried here. The big draw for me was visiting the grave sites of three grand uncles, all of whom died...More

The main attraction was seeing Francis Scott Key's burial site. Appeared to be a well maintained cemetery. It was definitely worth a visit.
