The gentleman at the Visitors center recommended this museum and as it was just up the street from the Civil War Medicine Museum, I decided to give it a try. It is located in a historic home and has exhibits that highlight the house and the history of the county through the ages. The ladies who greeted me were super... More

As a life long resident of the county, embarrassed to say I haven't stopped in before. The historical offering and artifacts are diverse and most interesting. In spite of being familiar with county history, I learned much more. It takes a good hour to thoroughly tour. Would highly recommend.

Some interesting artifacts and quite a few good interpretive panels The house itself is interesting for its having been used as a home for orphaned girls for many years.

We took the 90 minute Historic Frederick Tour which was an excellent way to immerse ourselves in the history and culture of Frederick as well as learn our way around. Our tour guide, Sandy, was wonderful. She was pleasant, friendly, and tailored the tour to our interests. She shared a wealth of knowledge about Frederick. It was well worth the... More

It's a nice museum well kept and organized. Some friendly staff for sure. Lots of good exhibits for the county history. Worth a stop and especially if you're going to the church across the street

Local county historical societies are quite hit or miss in our experience. This was a hit. Not extensive, but quite informative, and I learned a lot more than I might have suspected before entering. Staff was knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Goes way beyond just the colonial or civil war period. Worth the stop, but shouldn't take more than an hour.

We checked this out the same day we visited the Civil War Museum of Medicine. It was a good timeline of the area, and it was interesting to know that the building had at one time been a home for orphaned girls who were all taught how to assimilate into society with the proper knowledge and graces of other girls... We planned our visit at a time when a City historical walking tour was offered. Our tour guide did a great job of showing us the City's highlights.
