The park is not very large but quite divers. From hikes through the forest to stupendous views of the surrounding area, including the port and town of Xabia. There is in fact a hike from the light house to Xabia (half an hour down).

We were there in Spring and there were a lot of lovely flowers in the shrubs.

The mountain which towers over the town is a wonderful place to visit-
the initial walks up the mountain are at a very gentle incline and easy to do. The sites are spectacular-
definitely recommend this if you are in the area

My 18 year old son and I climbed Mt Montgo a few days ago. It was great but often challenging, especially towards the top, where you will come across some grade 1 scrambling, so don’t make the mistake I made, which was attempting it with open toe sandals. I made it up and down without any problems, apart from a few blisters.

If you are going to aim to get to the top, leave early (before 8 am in the summer), wear sensible walking shoes, take plenty of water and don’t underestimate the downward journey which can be hazardous if you rush down.

The rewards include some stunning views of the region and a sense of achievement.

We made it up in about 2 hours and down in about 90 mins.

Montgo, Jesus Pobre, Denia, Gata; are all beautiful. I grew up having Summers in Javea and I love it there.

2 hours to the top and 2.5 down. We did it with a 6 year old and a dog and it was a wonderful day out. Great sense of achievement, good exercise and spectacular views

We started our walk from the Jesus Pobre entrance where there is some car parking. Initially the track is paved but don’t be complacent as it changes to rough stones. A reasonable level of fitness required and I found trainers adequate plus a walking pole - mainly for the descent. We went up beyond the sign post and were treated to magnificent views. This walk/climb can go for miles. Beware the changing weather at this time of year as absolutely no shelter

this isolated limestone monolith is convenient to Denia and the surrounds. Many varied trails are possible. we enjoyed a few days of hiking around Christmas.

Beautiful views and compared to many British sites very clean. Tough in places and quite long so consider the way down when coming up

Using the "5 excursions" leaflet from the Tourist Office we followed route 5 - Volta Al Montgo. The starting point is said to have an info panel at the entry to the open air market Torrecremada, there isn't one. You need to go to the far end of the market, cross the road and go up to the T junction. There you'll find two very indistinct ancient signs pointing left, this is the start. Follow the country lanes and don't worry about signs pointing left again ' into a blocked road (see photos). Keep on and skirt the abandoned cement factory. Note the only place to rest is at the unused (yet new) railway station at La Xara. Good views of the Montgo all the way. We got as far as the golf course near Bisserot and turned back - 10.8 miles from our hotel near the marina.

Had a wonderful early morning (8:00am) walk. While Montgo may look a bit daunting the path is not as challenging as you may think. Rocky in parts with some straight forward slabs to climb up you just need to make sure you have the right footwear (no flip flips or deck shoes!). We walked on a Saturday and it was pretty busy on the way down.
