We always try to do something new on our annual visit to the Black Hills and Keystone. This year, we chose the Gutzon Borglum Historical Center. Well worth the time and admission fees!

Lots of very interesting historical information. Actual size example of Lincoln's eye carved in granite. Good to see before you visit Mt Rushmore.

This center has a self guided audio tour. You can go at your own pace. The people running it are very friendly and helpful

If you get a chance, visit this unique museum with loads of stories about the sculptor responsible for Mt. Rushmore. The story of this great man and his family merits your visit.

We were very glad we saw this and visited before going to Rushmore. The center has a lot of information on the sculptor and the project that you wouldn't get at the memorial itself.

You must go here before visiting the Mt. Rushmore memorial. Learning all the history of Borglum and how the memorial came to pass is amazing and will make you appreciate the hard work and dedication that it took build the memorial.
