The statue is because they have a groundhog in a cage. The statues are fine but that poor groundhog doesn't have a life.

I suppose this goes along with giant apples and perogees elsewhere but it's really underwhelming. The area has so much history and natural attractions that you KNOW they can do better than this.

We don't take selfies, but darn this is the home of Wiarton Willie. Off to his Statue. Lots of fun, so close to Wiarton's wonderful Bay. Have an Ice cream near by.

Wiarton Willie is a great Ontario Canada groundhog even though he cant always predict the end of Winter.

we took a family photo here, kinda quirky having a statue of a groundhog down by the waters edge, , but knowing the history of Wiarton , and what the area meant, it is rather fitting, cheers
