A fantastic overnight trip to Trinidad from Varadero that incorporated Cienfuego and El Nicho on the first day, an overnight at Trinidad and a stop off at Santa Clara on the second day. The trip was booked through Holiday Place concierge (Eduardo) and facilitated by Cubanacan. The tour guide, Lauran, was fantastic and so knowledgeable. We were warned of basic... More

A lovely place for a half-day trip from Cienfuegos. Well-maintained trails up to a beautiful waterfall and cold, clear, rejuvenating swimming hole (there is also a rock pool down at the foot but the upper one is better.)

This might be a good stop on your way to Trinidad coming from Cienfuegos. Entrance fee is 10 CUC and there is a restaurant shortly after the ticket office (DO NOT USE THE RESTAURANT OUTSIDE! Our driver brought us there, it was so bad! Dirty, expensive, just terrible). In the el Nicho park there are 2 natural swimming pools and... More

Yes this was a good afternoon spent in gorgeous rock pools. We went there in a taxi and then had the taxi take us to Trinidad.

We came by private taxi from Cienfuegos on the way to Trinidad. We went via the botanical garden (recommended) and the El Nicho waterfall (also recommended). However, do not trust the driver's lunch recommendation at El Nicho! The restaurant just outside the ticket booth is one of the filthiest and worst we've ever seen. And outrageously expensive - for inedible... More

Wow, just wow. Our day at El Nicho was one of the most memorable in Cuba. Not only the dumbfounding beauty and nature that surrounds you, but the overall experience. You'll find that the locals that work at El Nicho, in all areas of the park, are extremely friendly and eager to chat. After a refreshing hike and a few... More

It's a bit far but worth it. We went there on our own, by car. We made the mistake to choose a shortcut (we had an offline map). That road was horrible but a never forgetting experience ;) You could also book a tour in Trinidad. There are many falls and places where you could swim. So don't forget your... More

Very nice hike, restaurant on the way to the falls with live music. Did not stop to eat. Small waterfall with interesting wooden bridges along the way. Good spots for couple pictures. Cost is $10. to enter.

You can reach the El Nicho best on your way from Cienguegos to Trinidad, or the other way around. (Although you'll have to be prepared on a very bumpy road). Then a short walk in a nice and lush green leads you to the waterfall, where you might take a dip in the water. Also a very nice vista over... More
