Dear traveller, Welcome to Ilulissat – a world of Greenland. Greenland is a big country with lots of interesting and beautiful places to visit. However, only few places can give you such a complete experience as the area of Ilulissat - the town by the Icefiord. There are giant icebergs, calving glaciers and the Inland Ice are nearby, and they can be experienced both from helicopters, boat trips and hikes. Also the humpback whales are very numerous in the area, and we have begun to arrange whale safaris. The Arctic summer is short and hectic which is demanding for the arctic flora, which grows on the edge of what is possible. It is also interesting to experience the Greenlandic culture and history, which is present everywhere in town. The hinterland is incredibly beautiful and during the winter, when the snow has fallen, there are good possibilities for dog sledge rides. These combine both riding in the mountains, on frozen lakes and the ice covered fiords. The duration of the tours is 1, 2, 3 or 5 hours or 2, 3, 4 or 10 days. Our little pearl of nature, Eqi, is situated 90 kilometres north of Ilulissat and it is the destination of many tours during the summer. You can choose between a day-tour by boat, overnight accommodation with a great view to the glacier or our new Base Camp Eqi, which gives easy access to hikes on the Inland Ice. World of Greenland is a Greenlandic company owned by two travel agencies, Greenland Travel and Topas Adventure Travel. We have one overall objective: To give visitors the best experience possible while staying in the town by the icefiord, Ilulissat. Our regular staff is made up of experienced guides with great knowledge of the Disco Bay area. They all love the Greenlandic nature and are users of the activities that it provides. It is the knowledge and know-how from own experiences and the passion for Greenland that we use, when we plan the excursions for you. We will do our best to fulfill your expectations, which of course is expected to a stay in Ilulissat. Therefore safety and quality are very important keywords for us. Our experienced guides are equipped with GPS, first aid kit and communication systems on all hiking tours. Our boats are all approved by the government to make commercial boat tours. Our dogsledge drivers are all skilful hunters and fishermen. We provide them with satellite phones on trips on more than one day. These are just a few of the safety precautions we make so you only have to focus on one thing – your adventure. The whole staff of World of Greenland and I are looking forward to welcoming you to the Disco Bay. Espen Andersen Managing director, World of Greenland

The agency is the biggest out of many travel agencies in Ilulissat. We booked at the site a boat trip to the icefjord, normally there a three per day. And we booked a 2 hour dog sled tour. We do not recommend the 5 hour tour, because in the sled it is freezingly cold and uncomfortable., although you should do... More

Visiting Greenland just out of season at the beginning of November to try and allow for the snow to fall and dogsledding to become possible, I tried my best to book tours with World of Greenland. I was told that this was not possible because the schedules were not yet set because of the weather, I fully appreciate this. In... More

Dear adiltariqamin, Thank you for your constructive review. We have taken active actions toward offering more diverse tours in the period mentioned. Unfortunately we also had just changed the tours premises. We should have ironed out all the problems by now. The problem with dog sledding in that timeframe is that we deemed it unsafe to do the tour, but... More

We take the 7-day trip with this agency and find that its service is superb and the company is the largest tour firm in Illulissat, offering the most variety of tour trips which include tours of boat, airplane, city walk, and good guided tour.

I'm so glad I discovered World of Greenland! As a person traveling on my own, it was great to be able to connect with an organization that would assist in organizing tours. They were great!

We went on the 7:30pm boat cruise among the icebergs. The views are simply outstanding. It will be COLD on the water, so bring or wear even more than you think you need. They offer free coffee and tea, and if you have cash you can buy whiskey and they'll pour it over a chunk of iceberg. The staff were... More

Hi SarahDanni, Glad you enjoyed the tour. It is correct that our 2½ tour might feel long, especially in the shoulder seasons. We have looked into shortening the tours, and we will of course take your statement into consideration. Hope to see you back here. Best Regards Jakob Schytz More

We went to the Eqi glacier and to Illimanaq with world of Greenland. Eqi glacier is definitely worth it, but it's a looooooooong trip. 4 hours in a cramped boat each way. No entertainment at all. There was alcohol and chocolate for sale, but little more. They could have easily had the guide give a lecture about the glacier/global warming/etc... More

Dear Haagensena, We are currently working on some form of entertainment on the boats. But often we find that people are more interested in seeing the nature or even enjoy the scenery. As mentioned, we are working on a form of entertainment, but alas, nothing suitable for the tour yet. If you want a shorter tour I would recommend going... More

If you want to book a good organized excursion, go to the WOG. Easy to find, you can book on internet. Nice persons, much possibilities and good prices.
