I think a lot of the local outfitters who do group shore dives come here, makes sense as it's very easy to get in as a novice and start snorkeling without having to get too deep too fast. The fourth out you go the bigger...More

The powdered sand was so soft it was unreal. The reef is close to the rocks that separate Mokapu Beach from Ulua Beach (towards the left when facing the ocean). The reef begins about 6m from the beach, and it stays shallow for a good...More

We also liked this beach for the beautiful sand and surf, but you need to walk a little beyond the Andaz hotel area to get to the nicer part of the beach, which is closer to Keawakapu beach. I went swimming here, but didn't see...More

We love this beach. It's great for just relaxing in the sun. If you get too hot just take a dip in the ocean. Every time we have come here people have seen turtles and fish. I hear it's a great place to snorkel although...More

I liked snorkeling on the reef between Mokapu and Ulua beaches. Saw some colorful fish. A lot of people were snorkeling so maybe not as pristine an experience as other places, but super fun and easy access from our hotel. Kid-friendly beach with small waves,...More

This was a very nice, less crowded beach. At either end there were some tide pools with lots of interesting nooks to explore. The beach had less of an incline and wave action seemed to be milder also. Great for families/kids.

We were able to access this beach from the hotel we were staying at, The Andaz Maui, which kept the beach less crowded. Great snorkeling spot. Saw a turtle and some fishes and coral. Clean and beautiful!

We stayed at the Andaz which, luckily, is situated on Mokapu Beach. It's the perfect beach in Wailea: calm in the morning and late afternoon, great snorkeling and canoeing, amazing for swimming and wading and sunbathing, and the views of northern Maui and the other...More

Looking for a beautiful beach and easy snorkel site this is a perfect beach on west Maui. Fish, turtles, eels just off the beach around the coral outcropping. Clear water, white beaches, showers, restrooms make it a favorite day spot. Bring lunch and enjoy the...More

Great beach. It was not crowded. It had great surf to play in. We weren't surfing so i don't know how it rated for surfing. Very active waves. Probably not great for small children.

There's lots of lawn behind the beach but I think most is private property so you'd need permission or rent it. There is a pretty big section of lawn at the south end of Ulua but again I'm sure it's owned by somebody, not... More
