We rode the cable car over the canopy then hiked to Nambillo Falls. The trail is uneven, had lots of stairs and is sometimes a bit muddy. Hiking sticks were helpful. This is not a good trail for those with really bad knees or other...More

We booked this private tour the day before. Our hotel offered a tour to Mindo, but we wanted more control over the itinerary and didn't want to potentially be stuck in a large group. Plus, we wanted to do more than just drive by and...More

To describe just how incredible mindo is, is really hard. I have been to many parts of the amazon rainforest and never saw half as much wildlife and fauna as I did in mindo. If you are a nature lover then you must go here....More

We spent half a day walking around bird and flower watching in this wonderful natural park in Mindo. Things change rapidly from sun, to low clouds to rain to rainbows. Loved it but wear hiking gear

The cloud forest is really nice for hiking from one waterfall to the next one. You can spend a few hours here. I would just skip the teleferico since it is really expensive for a 45 second-ride

Mid September. Low season. Limited crowd. It was beautiful to be in this calming community & forest. Nothing is fully developed, which made this area welcoming. Forest, birds, butterflies, lizard, and other (you don't want to see). Wear pants in the area with swimming suits...More

The mindo cloud forest is an absolutely beautiful place if you like nature-related things. The activities offered are quite extensive compared to the rest of Ecuador but will keep you occupied for about 2 days... Highly recommendable are the waterfalls (with the Tabateria), the night...More

The whole area around Mindo is in gorgeous cloudforest. You can and should hire local guides like Julia Patinho or her sister, or the owner of the BioHostal Mindo, a simple clean convenient place in Mindo that now serves food, I understand.

One must understand the difference between a canopy and a true jungle. This is a remarkable place to see in a modern world. The sounds and sights are marvelous. There is an opportunity to see beautiful birds and flowers and animals. There is the river...More

You pay $5 to take the cable care (tarabita) to take you to the beginning of the hike. The trail is easy, I think between 5-7 kms only and it goes down all the way to the bottom of the trail where a few waterfall...More

We were not required or advised to get the yellow fever vaccine. I would recommend bug spray though (without CFCs), especially if you will be hiking.

Sorry. We are a mature couple. We visited Mindo without a guide. Sorted ourselves out once there and didn't feel we needed a guide. Hopped on a bus in Quito and stayed for 4 days. Loved it. Hope you do.
