Went to visit the venue on spec today as called a few times prior and no one was answering. With no facility to leave a message or responses to email enquiries, I popped in directly to speak to someone re wedding planning..... Oh no love you'll have to come back tomorrow, or give them a call......ironic. Do you have a... More

We visited Cannon Hall years ago and things have changed quite a bit. There is a great cafe/bistro at the garden centre, a short walk to the house which unfortunately was closed the day we went. The farm shop has extended considerably and sells a great range of produce. We walked through the grounds to the Fairyland pond which we... More

It's wonderful that such a place is still free to enter. Well done Barnsley Museum and Heritage service! In one respect this is a large family house with a strong 18th-century character where you can learn about the Spencer-Stanhope family, the local Lords of the Manor and their servants and artistic relatives. On the other hand you can spend time... More

If you visit you can spend quite a long time here I would imagine. For just £3 parking you can walk in spacious grounds, visit a garden centre and a museum! We went to the museum only as we had booked for a specific event. The staff who greeted us in the entrance/shop were very helpful and friendly. One lady... More

The museum at cannon hall is great. On entering we were met by very enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff. We explained that we only had a short time to see the museum and the assistant gave us advice on what and where to see things and also gave us a free guide. The museum has lots for everyone, from local information... More

There are not that many places that are free these days but this is one of them and is a credit to Barnsley Council. The Hall, Moorcroft exhibits and the current De Morgan exhibition are not to be missed.

Parking was £3 but the entry to the hall was free so I thought it good value for money. We went round the gardens, watched the dogs and their owners enjoying the cold bright Autumnal day. The leaves were cascading off the tees with the increasing breeze. Very photogenic!! The White Bull restaurant and bar was clean and prices good... More

Took the dog for a walk. Lots of fantastic open countryside and the dog could even walk around the gardens near the house on the lead. Do not know if any of the cafes were dog friendly inside because it was a warm day so we sat outside the garden centre cafe. The farm shop is amazing and I couldn't... More
