This is America's history at its best. This house is truly a a historic treasure. Do not miss it on a visit to Macon. It is not a visit for young family but is wonderful for couples of any age.

Great tour of a great house of the Italanian renaissance. Hopefully you can get Sarah Hall as your docent. She is very good. If you are into touring antebellum houses, this is a must, since it is so different. So richly adorned. So big. This was a house of several very wealthy people and they put a lot of money... More

We bicycled up the steep hill and saw the beautiful fountain and small garden area. The tour allows you to witness beautiful artwork, exceptional architecture, and period furnishings. The tour was guided by the most enchanting and knowledgeable host - we truly felt as though we were guests. Not to be missed - spring for the additional nominal fee to... More

The tour of Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation"s, Johnson-Felton-Hay House is not to be missed. This four plus level Italianate mansion is stunning, the docents are informed and approachable, and the tales of the families who have lived here make each room come to life. If the extended tours or behind the scenes tours are offered, they are worth your... More

This house is not to be missed. I have been to Newport, Charleston, Savannah, and loved them all but this house spared by the Sherman march to the sea, is a true wonder. It is also a bargain compared to most restored homes. I loved the tour and then paid an extra $4 to explore all seven floors and the... More

The quality and beauty of this historic home will amaze any visitor no matter how well traveled. This house ranks as one of treasures of the US and should not be missed by anyone with an interest in architecture or design. I visited on a quiet Monday morning and had a private tour with a lovely informative docent. Well worth... More

We ended up in Macon trying to stay away from Hurricane Matthew and had no idea what there was to see in Macon. Saw the Hay House on TripAdvisor and went to have a look. The house was amazing to tour and I highly recommend it. Tom, the guide, was fantastic. We paid the extra $4 to go right up... More

I thought this place was amazing. I never saw any rudeness from a single staff person. I'm from the north too! Maybe I didn't see any rudeness because I was pleasant to the staff, and was treated pleasantly. Maybe it's because there's not been a "north vs. south" mentality in several decades. You decide. If you're into these things, request... More

When built it was ahead of its time with hot and cold running water a ventilation system and speaking tubes. Our guide Sara was excellent really bringing the house and its history to life, well, worth paying extra to see the top floors and the cupola with great views over the town.
