We very much enjoyed our great tour of the Hay House. Lovely rooms and a very informative guide. Only negative was the extra charge to see the mostly empty attic and the cupola. Though on a nice day the view would be good.

Went in January for the first time after living in the area 10 years. We had a very knowledgeable guide. The architecture and art work is amazing. Very insiteful.

A pre-civil war masterpiece of innovation & European opulence, the Johnston-Felton-Hay House is indeed "The Palace of the South". So glad Sherman's March missed this rare antebellum home. Took the "back stairs' tour through all seven floors of the house, including to the top cupola....More

Michael is correct. The tours are hourly. There is a $4 extra charge to see the upper levels or $20 at certain times for the "behind the scenes" tour. All very worth it.
Are you allowed to take pictures of the interior of the house?

Response from hayhouse | Property representative |
Photography of the interior is not permitted on our regular walk in guided tours. This has become our policy because those taking pictures may distract our docents or other guests from the tour. We want our guests to enjoy... More
