Stopped by Rose Hill on the way from Chattanooga to Savannah. Had planned to visit "the big house", but they were closed for maintenance, so we visited Duane, Gregg, and Berry's graves instead. Very beautiful scenery and history

I went in August 2017 just a few months after Greg Allman pasted away but I had wanted to go for a while. It is a large old cemetery with a very narrow road through it but I found the Brothers graves- I kind of...More

The Allman Brothers are buried here, Duane, Gregg and Barry Oakley the Bass player for the band. When you go thru the gates, turn left and the graves are on the left. This is a memorial for the band and those that have passed.

I guess Rose Hill goes back about as far as Macon. 1820s or so. Macon's history is laid out in one tantalizing tree-framed epitaph after another. The unexpected scale of the Confederate cemetery comes charging down the hill at you as you round a curve...More

I don't believe that it's closed on the weekends. Perhaps it was just closed the weekend that you were there for some reason. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was open and many visitors were around. Maybe try it one... More
