This cemetery contains many beautiful and even historic grave sites. There is a confederate soldier section as well as a wonderful Jewish section. It was designed to be walked and has enough hills to provide a challenge, or you can drive through it. The markers...More

With Duane Allman and Berry Oakley being buried here among other notable people from Georgia's past this is a cemetery to come and see. It is also on the US National Register of Historic Places.

This is a historic cemetery in Macon that contains the grave of Duane Allman as well as other famous Macon residents. There are many nice head stones to see that show a lot of history. Daune is buried in the Carnation section which is not...More

We explored for about half an hour. Some nice monuments but most were not very impressive. One section has some 800 confederate gravesites. Setting and terracing on the rolling hills is well dome.

Rose Hill cemetery is an easy drive or walk from downtown. We were drawn there with the idea of seeing Duane Allman and Berry Oakley's grave sites. They are clearly marked and stand out from the other graves because of the care they receive. The...More

My final day on the road involved a visit to two sacred places that probably wouldn’t be on most people’s must see stops. But in some strange way, they seemed appropriate in the context of the drive from Annapolis to Tallahassee. The first was in...More

We took a drive through the narrow roads of this old cemetery. The character of the head stones and statues aren't made like this anymore.

Rose Hill is not only beautiful with its Gothic like architecture, but also is home to famous musicians such as Duane Allman. If you're visiting the area, stop by and take a gander.

I went solely for the purpose of visiting the graves of Duane Allman and Berry Oakley. Beautiful old cemetery. Well kept. Scenic. Difficult to drive through the old section because of the hilliness and narrowness of the driveways.

This cemetery is located adjacent to the Riverside Cemetery in Macon, and the two sites flow into one another seamlessly. There are some wonderful monuments and grave markers to take in with the history that each represents. Combined with the great views of the city,...More

I don't believe that it's closed on the weekends. Perhaps it was just closed the weekend that you were there for some reason. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was open and many visitors were around. Maybe try it one... More
