We drove for what seemed like forever, and the gps told us the wrong way twice, but we got here, and it was worth it. The beach was clean, they had facilities to shower, change, use the bathroom, and get snacks or drinks. They also had recycling bins, so it was easy to toss your trash correctly. The only downside... This was a good place to go to the beach. The area was very clean, and they have a nice visitor center, shop. There are also showers to help get rid of the sand. There are quite a few shaded shelters and picnic tables for eating on the beach, and picnic tables near the visitors center and showers that are... More

This is one of the cleanest beaches I have been to on the Gulf Coast. My husband and I like to walk around and pick up trash that is left behind either by other people or trash that has drifted ashore. The visitor center is well stocked and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. The beach is quiet and the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the national seashore. The senior pass from the National Parks administration worked beautifully. The free birding tour was very interesting.

The visitor center had very good information about the beaches and surrounding areas. If you have kids, make sure you take advantage of the Junior Ranger programs/books. Just ask any of the rangers at the desk, and they will be more than happy to help you out. Once the book is completed, your kids will get some cool stuff!

We stopped at this beach just for a moment. It was a nice sand beach that wasn't to crowded. Saw a few people swimming. The waves were very mild and the water was warm enough to be in. Great place for a picnic or watch the sunset.

Wonderful place, only a stone's throw from the beach! No hookups but for $8 a night ($4 with Senor pass) what more could you want? Sites are all hard surface with public showers/toliets close by.

Easter weekend and totally expected this area to be packed. Two hrs from San Antonio so an easy drive. Loved seeing the farms . The beach is amazing. The entrance fee was free. The education area was great. But the beach is the big draw. We didn't have enough tot iem to see all that was still there. We will... More

The visitors' center is informative (of course)- there is a nice display of photos that tell you what is around and what you may likely see. The staff is friendly and informative- but the gentleman we spoke with was not really "a bird person". I suggest you get a bird list from an online source if that's what you're doing... More
