This was a highly interesting book store, especially the attendant. Very interesting individual with an outstanding personal history. Also someone who knew one of all time favorite authors, Tony Hillerman.

Now I have to justify my title here. I am from Nashville and thoroughly enjoyed this store. They had all kinds of souvenirs--not the typical cheapola souvenirs, but unique items that I didn't see in other stores. And these souvenirs are things I can't get in Nashville. I purchased some greeting cards with a Southwest flavor, which I was thrilled... More

Once in a while, a bookstore’s charm isn’t in the pages it holds, but rather in the people who run it. Treasure House Books and Gifts in Old Town, Albuquerque, has a treasure behind the front counter. He’ll only give his name as Jim, but the 86-year-old owner and his son, John, have been in the book business for a... More

A great location on the Plaza. It is a first stop to get local books. They are very school in New Mexico books. Treasure House also has the newest local books.

Stopped in at this little bookstore while touring Oldtown, Albuquerque. Great, cozy place featuring New Mexico authors on New Mexico interests. I picked up a book on NM historical mysteries and am loving it. If you get to talk to Jim, the eighty year old veteran behind the counter, you're in for a treat. Pick up any book in the... More

We were staying near Old Town and discovered the Treasure House Bookstore right on the Plaza. What a delightful place. This tiny bookstore is chockfull of local interest/local author books. We have discovered several excellent authors by asking in each place we travel to recommend a local author. The owners (father and son) must read every book in their store... More

John Hoffsis, the friendly and knowledgeable owner, is always glad to chat with customers about New Mexico books and authors. He is a strong support of local authors and features many book signings/discussions in his store most weekends. You can't go wrong with this friendly little store!
