Loved this town! The buildings are stunning and everyone was very friendly. The historic museum has a walking tour booklet as well

The city was beautiful, but not vibrant. We enjoyed our tour of the history center. It is somewhat small, but for $3 a person we felt they did a very nice job conveying the local history. The drive there Was nice as were the people we encountered. It was a very friendly town.

Pipestone was a very prosperous town in the 1890s, and the historic district shows it in some amazing and beautiful stone buildings. Many have historic plaques that help interpret them, but I wanted a brochure to put it all together--how did they make so much money to build so many landmarks? Make time to go to the small museum, which... More

The museum is a great place to start your visit of Pipestone. The museum is located at 113 South Hiawatha Ave. in the center of the historic downtown. It is housed in Pipestone's old City Hall. Built in 1896, the building housed City offices, the fire department and water department until 1960. The building was deeded to the County Historical... More

Start your tour with the movie at the visitors center to gain a better perspective of what you will see. Many great displays and dioramas set the tone. The trail is easy and enyoable.

Enjoyed driving around Pipestone's historic district. Especially enjoyed their City Hall -- red brick -- think it might be pipestone.

They just don't make buildings like this any more. It's great to see that they are being preserved and not torn down. Check out the Ghost Walk

They just don't make buildings like this anymore. Check out the gargoyles they are fun to see. Don't forget to stop into the Calumet for something to eat or drink after your tour.

It's like taking a time machine back to the turn of the century. If you are at all interested in history you have to find the Museum just off Main Street on HIawatha and take a look. You can get the background you need to really appreciate what you are seeing as you check out the town. This place is... More
