We were here on a private tour to see some of H. P. Lovecraft's letters. We thank Christopher and Sarah for the fine presentation and taking the time to set aside some of the interest they have in preservation. We also viewed the toy soldier exhibit which was unique. The building is impressive and partnering with the University it is... More

The John Hay Library at Brown University is the second oldest library on the campus. The building is as impressive as the collection it holds.

We did enjoy the military toy soldiers displayed on the top floor. Surprisingly. But the elevator wasn't working, we couldn't see the stacks. The librarians weren't very interested in helping us.

This is an excellent library to visit. When you do, check out the new reading room. It is amazing. They usually have different historical exhibits. Enjoy your visit.

If you are a Lovecraft fan, than this library is a must. If you are not a Lovecraft fan, than this library is a must. This is a beautifully laid out, modern library on the Brown University campus. Of course, one of the things this library is known for is having the world's largest collection of H. P. Lovecraft's original... More

After reading the new Biography by John Taliaferro (an excellent biography) I wanted to see the Sargeant painting located in the library. Be aware the library is being renovated for 9 months.

John Hay Library has incredible collections and the helpful and welcoming librarians make it a pleasure to visit. There is a small display case in the lobby with a rotating exhibit for casual visitors (i.e., not there on a research visit) to enjoy.

We got to see so much greatness here....Collections of toy soldiers, Lincoln and Napoleon Memorabilia, Stamps, and a Slavery exhibit. You should definitely go and arrange for a tour. So overwhelmed with what we saw. We really want to go again. Walk around the campus too. Lovely!
