Amazing adventure

Great place for kids. It has everything you could want and it's so close to downtown Salem. Can't wait to go again in the summer.

I went there a number of times when I lived in Salem. There was a boat ramp there and it was convenient to kayak from there. Also there were picnic facilities and a nice view.

We found this place by accident just because we were looking for lighthouses to visit. It was an adventure going down the stairs to the rocks around the lighthouse. It was so peaceful and they have lots of signs around telling about the history of the island.

Stopped in quickly to view the ocean. The staff at the gate were very friendly and the view was beautiful. The lighthouse was the best part.

We've camped here for the past five Octobers in a row. Winter Island is a piece of peace when we need to get away from the madding tourist crowds on Essex Street and Derby Street during "high season". Abundant wildlife, good campsites, adequate facilities, and the cutest little beach ("Wakiki") this side of Honolulu. Accommodating yet not intrusive staff; fantastic... More

Maybe I come after lunch so there's no beautiful sunset. I thought this place is just okay. Paid $5 parking/entrance fee but seeing it one time is enough. Light house is close to shore so you can take a good picture.

Great sunsets, and of course, the lighthouse is amazing to see! Check this out in the off season, avoid the tourists!

There is an old WWII hangar in the park and the views of ocean are tremendous! The Fort Pickering light is an easy walk up an incline and there are also WWII bunkers to see.

THe campsite is okay, next to the sea. The biggest advantage is that with a short taxi ride, you can take the train into Boston. When we wanted to leave our sideslide would not go in and the maintenance guys came out to help. THeir beach is called wakiki beach but that is a bit disappointing.

We purchased a beautiful wood painting of Winter Island Park and with the artist's direction we visited Winter Island Park. In order to get to the park, you drive through a camp site. There are rocks you can climb on, a small beach and a couple benches to sit on as you enjoy the view of the Winter Light. The day... More
