Nice place to gather a little history and do some great shopping. Homes in this area are historic and old dating to the 1600's. National Park guides will help you with suggestions.

I felt as though every window of every story reflected witchcraft, wizards, etc. I realize that perhaps I am indifferent to following witchcraft, wizards, etc. I felt it was a bit too much and took away from a romantic get-away!

Pickering Wharf was only about a block walk from our hotel. We found ourselves going there for various reasons. We first went there to check out the ship, which was not there this trip, the Maritime Museum, and the lovely ocean. The weather was outstanding for mid November. We then discovered the many cute shops on Wharf Street, which we... More

This area of boutiques and restaurants is also home to great views as well as being relatively close to many points of interest such as the Customs House and the House of Seven Gables. A great place to take in the sea air!

Beautiful views but my gosh what an extravagant ship! So neat to explore around. We went on a foggy morning that turned out to be a beautiful day.

I really feel Pickering Wharf is the heart of Salem. You can walk to most historic & tourist sites from here. Many little shops and places to eat; you can also see part of the ocean & Salem's historic ship is right there. We always check out Pickering Wharf when visiting. If visiting in October, let your kids wear their... More

The buildings have been restored and all the shops are well kept and adorable. Lots of places to get a coffee and rest.

Pickering Wharf is the most stunning place in Salem. It offers beautiful views of the ocean and is an excellent place to come with your friends or significant other to just relax. A great way to spend an afternoon and there are great restaurants nearby too!
