Overview
More
With more than 8,500 animals on 56 acres, there's plenty of fun for the whole family. The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest.

My husband and I brought our 15month old daughter while vacationing in San Antonio and we really enjoyed this zoo. It was larger than I expected after reading many reviews. It was my daughters first time to a zoo and she was mesmerized! They had...More

Worst zoo I've ever been to! The large animal exhibits are very sparse and while the zoo may have tried to make it seem like the animals are in their natural setting they've failed miserably!! Swimming holes only had a small amount of water in...More

We greatly underestimated the size and time needed for this zoo. It is quite large and took us 4 hours to see everything. The exhibits are nice and they have many unique reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and birds that I haven't seen at other zoos. There...More

This is a terrific zoo. Pleasant, diverse, easy, fun. For young ones, there is the Children's Zoo as well. A nice place when in San Antonio to spend some time.

We love going to zoos and enjoyed the one in San Antonio. The pricing is a little different though. There are things you can add on for an extra cost. If you want to do the carousel, the butterfly house, the train, etc. They do...More

We visited years ago and it was different than I remembered - smaller. We got there right after they opened and we were somewhat disappointed that some animals were not out yet to see. There is a good variety of animals but not as many...More

1st, go to ttia.org for discount tickets, then go. This was one of the smallest zoos we have ever attended, the whole thing only took about an hour and a half. We looked at most everything 2 and 3 times. Go just to say you...More

Yes, once you leave you will need to depart at the Exit Gate. Tell the attendant that you want to return back, they will stamp you. Then you may re-enter the same day without paying again.
