With more than 8,500 animals on 56 acres, there's plenty of fun for the whole family. The San Antonio Zoo was first established with a donation from George W. Brackenridg in the 1800s. Two of the first cageless exhibits in the U.S. opened here in 1929 and the bird collection is one of the world's largest.

I highly recommend this zoo! They have SO many animals and the animals actually have room to move around and feel more at home. We did the 1:00 giraffe feeding and it was AMAZING. We have fed giraffes before but being able to talk to...More

The zoo is as good and we'll run as I remember it as a child. The animals are displayed in natural settings and appear more at home than in the normal cage setting. The pricing is a little high but worth it to have a...More

First time to this zoo. Very quaint. Nice habitats for the animals. Very clean and the property is well maintained. It is not too large. The perfect size to spend a couple of hours.

This zoo is clean and very walkable. The day we went we took in the little train that goes around the park first. That was around $7 for both of us. The zoo wasn't crowded and for the most part we really liked it. I...More

The SA zoo gives a discount for military. I enjoy the zoo every time I visit. Great walking areas for strollers or wheel chairs. Take a ride on the mini train when you leave the zoo. It is a blast!

Yes, once you leave you will need to depart at the Exit Gate. Tell the attendant that you want to return back, they will stamp you. Then you may re-enter the same day without paying again.
