Built for the 1968 HemisFair in honor of the city's 250th anniversary, this delightful park is a local favorite, particularly the water gardens and the kid-designed wood and sand playground, which includes a castle and space tunnel. The highlight is the looming 750-foot tall Tower of the Americas, offering a terrific view of the city.

Awesome park where I’m sure you could spend a couple of hours with the kids. Unfortunately the day we were there, there was a school group, and so it was too crowded to enjoy. Also, the construction going on right now (November 2016) makes travelling between Hemisfair Park and Tower of the Americas a little cumbersome.

This was my first time here and it was a real surprise. We walked through here on the way to the Tower and spent a lot more time than we planned. The place is not only beautiful, it is peaceful and the water cascades, etc. are really well done. There are plenty of park benches and place to simply rest... More

I went to this park while attending a conference in the nearby convention center. It provides a nice place to get away from everything - with many fountains and places to sit. The Tower of the Americas is in the center if you want something to eat or go up to the top to see the area. A nice place... More

Great views of the city from high atop the tower. Plenty of interesting reading on historical events in the city. Beautiful park connects you to the tower and the Institute of Texas Culture. Close to the river walk. Drive in, walk in, or come in the bus but be sure you visit this while in San Antonio.

We had a terrible time getting around the construction. What parts were there seemed fun, checkers chess splash pad sand box and part of the kids park. The path was nice looking. Once they fix it seems it will be great.

It's a bit tedious to get from west side of park to Tower of the Americas right now due to extensive construction blocking most of the pathways in Hemisfair Park. However, the children's playground right off S. Alamo is complete and well worth a visit. There are unusual slides, climbing areas, a splash park & very large sandpit. The playground... More

We walked the park and then went to the children's area - WARNING park is under construction and has no signage to help you detour!!!!! Played at the splash pad (2 sections out but the one working was great!) and the water / sand area and table. Our almost 2 year old had a BLAST!

I stumbled upon this gem when exploring downtown on a weekday. The equipment is huge and impressive! I can't say I have ever been to a park so memorable as this one, wow even as a middle-aged adult I wanted to play on all the equipment!

My daughter had never been to the HemisFair so we decided to take her. We parked in their parking (paying $12) and then realized we were too far from downtown. Without leaving the booth, I then asked the clerk for a refund since I wouldn't be using their parking lot. Because I paid with a debit card, he was unable... More

First time to visit this newer park. A word of warning, if you park in the parking lot which is on S. Alamo and very close to the park, and are visiting on the weekend, plan on the $10 charge on your card. We pulled in noticing the 1/2 increments charges on the small sign at the entrance and in...
