We liked the boat ride (even though there were some loud drunks that cheered every time we went under a bridge at the encouragement of the boat captain). The shops were nice and varried, the ducks and ducklings were adorable, and the trees and waterways were pretty.

Fun experience. Better to go on a weekday when crowds are not so great. It can get crowded with people who aren't watching where they are going and the paths are quite narrow.

We all know about the riverwalk in town which is an extension of the San Antonio river but it goes along the mission trail. You can walk or bike along the trail along the river.

This is a slow moving small river .. but very quaint and as it runs through downtown and the Riverwalk area is very nice. It is a cool comfortable walk along side the river bank and much cooler than up on street level. While the river is quite murky looking it does not stink or have any odor and the... More

The river meanders through the heart of San Antonio. City center it fills with restaurants and cafes. However, adventure a little and you will find small plazas for relaxing and even picnicking. So take a leisurely stroll.. don't rush. It is San Antonio.

Go when the sun is not too strong to be as comfortable as possible. It is enjoyable meeting other people this way.

It's so peaceful, even with noisy restaurants on one side. The walkways follow the river, there is fountains and art sprinkled everywhere.

Calming is the best way for me to describe it. Just enjoy the walk as it helps you to unwind. My wife and I became very romantic during our first walk along this river together. I have many memories at this place throughout the years.

As this is a tourist destination you would think the river would be pristine. Well you are in for a not so pristine river, that is dirty and not all that wonderful.
