This is located right by the Cathedral and River walk , it;s imposing at night time and day time. You can see the little fountain statuette holding the "truth" that runs only tru winter times, I also heard there is a light show and history show on the facade during holidays.

We were walking from our hotel through this plaza to see the downtown cathedral. We stopped to admire the landscaping and found historical markers talking about how it was connected to the Battle of the Alamo. Instead of just walking through, we ended up exploring the grounds and looking for more historical markers both in the Plaza and then the... More

Beautiful to visit both day and night. Light show is currently running Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 9:00pm, 9:30pm, and 10:00pm as of January 2017. Be aware there are panhandlers in the area that will approach you and ask for money. Main plaza is free to enter. The light show was excellent!

A very pleasant Plaza upon which Cathedral San Fernando sits.At this time the facade of the cathedral become the backdrop for a specifically created video screening entitled The Saga by Algerian artist Xavier ? Starting at 9 pm on Tues, Fri, Sat, and Sun the 24 minute showing portrays the history of Texas. The artist uses the architectural features of... More

The cathedral rivals many I have seen in Europe in grandeur if not in size. It's only about a five minute walk from the River Walk a well worth it.

Very nice plaza, in front of the Cathedral. There was a very nice Christmas Tree outside. Nice place after you go to Mass. Is clean. Close to riverwalk hotels (3 blocks from Westin) and close to the other side to the Mexican Plaza -Mall- (4 blocks).

the Cathedral is located here as well as a great location to rest a bit and then continue your exploration of downtown San Antonio. Easy access to the River Walk and other attractions. A few benches are located here and some water features. I assume in summer and warmer months lots of activities happen here on the plaza.

Walking distance from pretty much anywhere a tourist would stay and must see. Note, the city puts on the show, not the church, so check the city park website, not the church website.

One of really nice places in San Antonio is the Main Plaza where the San Antonio Cathedral is Located. You will learn about the St. Antonio after whom the city is named. The cathedral is absolutely stunning build in the typical European catholic architecture. Definitely must see!

A church steeped in history, and the remains of some of the defenders of the Alamo are buried there. While the church itself is beautiful, I recommend you check for the times most evenings after dark when a laser light show covering Texas history is displayed on the front of the church. The show is FREE and spectacular. It is... More
