Nice plaza around the cathedral with several fountains and a skirting of nice restaurants. Easy access from the river walk.

Originally built between 1738 and 1755, San Fernando Cathedral is the oldest operating sanctuary in North America. A captivating video art installation tells the story of the city on the magnificent facade of San Fernando Cathedral. YOU MUST SEE IT!!

Walking up from the River walk on our way back to the hotel the first night and we were a little directionally challenged when I could hear the music. It was a lively fun sound and it enticed me to direct the group over. We were pleased to come across the light show history of San Antonio that was created... More

The photo is the SAN Fernando Cathedral and it is quite beautiful. There is a water spray pad in front that we often see children walking through. There are places to sit and have a drink. Inside this cathedral is magnificent. Everyone should go inside and sit and look around.

The Main Plaza is the site of Farmer's Markets, concerts, movies, and more. Children (and adults) splash in the shallow bubbling fountains. When we arrived after Thanksgiving, the Courthouse was decorated with lights and greenery for Christmas. The lovely San Fernando Cathedral is also on this plaza and it is worth a visit. Check out the web site for the... More

Be sure to look and see if the 20 minute night light show will be showing during your visit to San Antonio. Very well done and good sound. There are a few sitting areas, but for the most part you will be standing. The show is on YouTube to give you an idea. We felt safe walking to this at... More

Beautiful old church in the main Plaza, has the remains of Travis, Crocket and Bowie. A big plus was the light show of the history of Texas that was shown on the church the nights we visited.

Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday starting at 9pm, 9:30pm nd 10pm. An incredible laser light show on the face of the cathedral gives a short history of San Antonio in art and music. Bring a blanket or just stand and watch the show. The cathedral shuts off it's lights at the start of the show and music fills the square.... More
